FAQs
Is this a competitive or recreational/instructional program?
We believe that at the grade school level EVERY program is instructional. The high school, college and even NFL levels still focus on teaching the players. No player at our level knows everything about the game, so we focus on teaching them the fundamentals. With that said, we believe that with proper instruction, winning football games will be a natural result.

Is my boy too small for football?

All of the players are on teams with other kids in the same school grade. There are also weight limits for players that will run the ball. With all of the required protective gear, even the smaller kids can play without worrying about the size of the other players.

How steep is the competition?
We believe that with the talent of the kids in Middletown as well as the coaching they will receive, our teams should be very competitive.

What if I can’t get my kids to the travel games?
We will have a large number of people traveling to the away games. We hope to make sure that every child can get a ride if their parents/guardian can’t make it. Our regular season is 8 games with 4 home and 4 away, so the amount of travel will be limited.

What is expected of me as a parent?
While we would like every parent to get involved and volunteer their time to help the program, we understand that with today’s busy schedules, that’s not always possible. What we do expect of every parent is that they support their child in a positive manner and cheer them on, without being disrespectful to the coaches, officials, and other volunteers.

Who do we contact for problems with coaches, other players, parents etc?

We would like the head coach to work out any issues that may arise, however if the issue can't be resolved contact the commissioner who represents your team or the director of coaches.  Either may be contacted to discuss problems or concerns with any aspect of the program. Contact information is listed on the website and will be distributed at the start of the season. The website address is www.middies.org.

When will I know if I am approved for a scholarship?
Every application for financial assistance will be reviewed by the board of directors.  Once applications are reviewed at a board meeting, you will be notified with the decision.

Where do admission/registration fees go?

All funds received by the program go directly to operational expenses such as uniforms, helmets & pads, field maintenance, official’s fees, insurance, etc. Anyone who would like more detailed information may contact the president of the organization and schedule a time to discuss in detail how funds are managed.

Where can I find a copy of rules and regulations of this league?

Every coach will receive a copy of the league’s rules.  They can also be viewed at the league website www.ovyfl.com/Home_Page.html

What is the one thing my kid will learn playing football?

It’s impossible to limit this to one thing. Football teaches many life lessons such as the value of hard work, good sportsmanship, self confidence, teamwork, etc.

What is required for parents to provide as far as equipment?

Parents need to provide black game and practice pants, a 7 piece pad set & cleats.  Middletown Youth Football has all of these items available for purchase at prices comparable to local sporting goods stores.
